SHEEP AND LAMBS Tight supply saw the trend estimate for sheep slaughtered in September quarter 2003 fall by 20% to 2.1 million, the lowest quarterly estimate since March 1984. The number of lambs slaughtered fell by 4% to 3.9 million, due to low numbers of new season lambs.
